We're driven by our core values of Trust, Excellence in Service, Integrity and Building Relationships. We take a holistic, all-encompassing look at every aspect of every project to ensure a seamless, fully integrated experience. This begins with preconstruction and lasts until long after your project is built. By establishing this perspective from the earliest stages of the project partnership, we can strategically focus on the details. This process is the hallmark of the DAVIS experience, something we call the DAVIS 360°.

Trust

We've built our reputation for excellence by delivering real quality and client satisfaction in return for a fair and reasonable profit. We understand that before we can earn repeat business, we have to earn trust — and we can only do that by offering a service and product that exceeds expectations in every way. We don’t just build buildings — we build partnerships.

Integrity

At DAVIS, the concepts of trust and honesty govern not only our client relationships, but our entire corporate structure. We are guided by a commitment to fairness — to every client, employee, and partner. As a result, we've been consistently honored as one of the Best Places to Work by the Washington Business Journal. While we appreciate these accolades, they are merely a reflection of one of our core values: Integrity.

As our founder James G. Davis Sr. often said,

“Be more concerned about your character than your reputation.”

We encourage and support our employees’ efforts to improve their skills and knowledge in every facet of our business. Integration

We deliver exceptional value to our clients by offering comprehensive project delivery strategies. In concert with our estimating and preconstruction teams, our Integrated Construction Group (ICG) seamlessly addresses everything on a project from beginning to end — including safety, planning and scheduling, virtual constructionsustainability, design and budget reviews, and quality management. Similarly, our Corporate Resource Group (CRG) integrates accounting services and corporate knowledge education, as well as legal and risk management services. By working together with each project team, these groups ensure that efficiencies are created wherever possible and that no detail is overlooked.

Creativity

We bring unrivaled creativity to everything we do, beginning with the planning process. When challenges arise, we meet them head on, delivering effective and innovative solutions through collaboration and consensus. This creativity is key to not only maintaining the integrity of the project, but to ensuring that every goal and objective is met on time and within budget — without compromise.

Commitment

At DAVIS, employees don’t just work for the company, we own it. We take ownership of each client’s goals and are personally invested in the end result of every project. This is one of the reasons why 65% of our work is negotiated with repeat clients. We never take our clients for granted.

We are fortunate to make a living doing what we love, and we take great pride in serving the community that has allowed us to do so. Our commitment is evidenced by the long-standing relationships we have built, and the productive partnerships that we continue to invest in. Each year, DAVIS provides thousands of in-kind construction and professional service hours, truckloads of construction materials, and financial support to our local nonprofit partners. Through our workforce and community development outreach, we are able to offer mentoring and education, scholarship programs and employment opportunities to many small and minority businesses. History

The Davis family has led the construction industry in the Washington, DC area for four generations. Edwin W. Davis cofounded his construction company in 1915. While predominantly a residential builder, he built the Mansion at Strathmore (formerly the Corby Estate) and the original Brookings Institution. Edwin became one of the top three builders in Washington, DC, and competed regularly with both Charlie Tompkins and George Hyman.

In 1966, his grandson James G. Davis Sr. started the company known today as DAVIS. Building on the same principles of hard work and innovation, he grew the company by establishing a culture and business climate that resonates with clients and employees more than five decades later. Since 1990, his son , along with Dennis Cotter and , continue to enhance this legacy, incorporating the latest technologies and modern management techniques, while adhering to a work ethic established over a century ago.
