DAVIS provides AIA approved courses for continuing education, and our in-house experts regularly teach classes to varied audiences, from subcontractors and clients, to students participating in our University Partnership Program.

In concert with our estimating and preconstruction teams, our Integrated Construction Group (ICG) seamlessly addresses everything on a project from beginning to end — including safety, planning and scheduling, virtual construction, sustainability, design and budget reviews, and quality management. Similarly, our Corporate Resource Group (CRG) integrates accounting services and corporate knowledge education, as well as legal and risk management services. The Davis family has led the construction industry in the Washington, DC area for four generations. Edwin W. Davis cofounded his construction company in 1915. While predominantly a residential builder, he built the Mansion at Strathmore (formerly the Corby Estate) and the original Brookings Institution. Edwin became one of the top three builders in Washington, DC, and competed regularly with both Charlie Tompkins and George Hyman.
In 1966, his grandson James G. Davis Sr. started the company known today as DAVIS. Building on the same principles of hard work and innovation, he grew the company by establishing a culture and business climate that resonates with clients and employees more than five decades later. Since 1990, his son Jim Davis, along with Dennis Cotter and Bill Moyer, continue to enhance this legacy, incorporating the latest technologies and modern management techniques, while adhering to a work ethic established over a century ago.
