The Construction Executive – Field Operations is responsible for multiple projects. This role is responsible for developing, mentoring, and providing overall leadership to project staff with an emphasis on providing direct guidance and leadership to Field Management Staff. This role is additionally responsible for assisting in project procurement support while providing management, supervision, and coordination to help ensure successful completion of construction projects to meet time and cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, and contract administration functions. The Construction Executive may be involved in corporate initiatives, both internal and external.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES + RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
Enforce the DAVIS Safety program in accordance with DAVIS Policies and Processes, local, state, and federal laws to include all subcontractors and employees
Responsible for the implementation of a site-specific project safety orientation program and plan in accordance with all DAVIS Safety Standard Policies and Processes, local, state, and federal laws to include all subcontractors and employees
Responsible for prompt resolution of safety deficiencies, as reported; ensures safety walks occur regularly
Obtain and maintain current certifications for First Aid, CPR and OSHA
Technical Knowledge
Implement and enforce proper processes as it relates to the site safety, quality control, and legal / risk management programs
Ensure all projects are constructed in accordance with quality standards, budgets, and project schedules
Participate in the pursuit of new projects – site logistics + planning, budget scope, proposal submission and presentation preparation
Partner with Project Management Team to develop the detailed overall CPM schedule; ensure updates and sequence changes are implemented as needed throughout the project
Review overall project budget with project team
Review Project Status Report (PSR) for projects assigned
Understand Owner contract terms to be aware of risks, review with project team
Contribute to and participate in internal, owners and subcontractor meetings
Responsible for material procurement aligns with schedule, utilizing material status log, and the submittal process
Confirm that all jobsite control reporting measures including daily reports, payroll, quality reporting, accident and incident reports, and timesheets
Responsible for the overall qualitative review of all contract documents for potential conflicts, ADA requirements, tolerance requirements or quality issues to mitigate risk
Verify that the existing conditions survey is completed and delivered to project team prior to the start of construction activities
Partner with DAVIS project team in the development of site logistics and sequencing diagrams; create the documents using proper software systems
Review the weekly updates to three week look ahead schedule for Project Management Team
Verify that teams are obtaining competitive pricing for all general job site needs to control costs and ensure alignment with the project budget
Develop and execute project team’s plan for monitoring the project completion
Review, understand and ensure that all local labor requirements are met
Participate in the oversight of subcontractor qualification and procurement, specifically by reviewing the risk management reports for the qualification and procurement process
Participate in project start up agreements and project close out process, as necessary, through regularly scheduled project staff and close out meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Quality of Work
Responsible for the set up and maintenance of project sites to ensure that they meet overall DAVIS standards
Ensure the maintenance and documentation of the workmanship by using DAVIS project controls, such as Latista, Microsoft Excel, or another software application
Responsible for the coordination with DAVIS field engineering department for project layout requirements

Ensure proper communication between DAVIS Project Manager and Superintendent throughout the construction process
Exhibit and promote the proper coordination and teamwork approach by project team with all individuals and companies on the project
Communication
Exhibit, promote, and ensure proper project team communication both internally and externally
throughout the preconstruction and construction process
Communicate effectively to owners and architects about progress and any potential impacts
Develop and maintain strong relationships with project team, including DAVIS, owners, architects, engineers and subcontractors
Regularly report to the Vice President – Construction Operations and Vice President on project status
Problem Solving
Identify, recognize and resolve project issues as necessary to support project team
Promote a proactive approach to solving project issues including supporting active research, coordination with other DAVIS resources, connecting with Subcontractor community, etc. to help foster creative solutions
Support financial closeout and possible owner, subcontractor and / or vendor disputes
Ensure that solutions are implemented in a timely manner
Planning + Organization
Proactively identify needs; develop and implement sequence and logistical plans for future tasks and projects
Execute and promote the management of tasks and priorities
Know the details of the project while maintaining a big picture outlook
Timeliness
Ensure that milestone and critical path schedule dates are being monitored for adherence
Responsible for timely projects start-up and closeout processes
Fulfill attendance and commitment expectations
Management + Leadership
Supervise, mentor and assist Project Managers and Superintendents level positions, including reviewing their work, strengthening necessary job skills, communicating performance concerns, and providing resources in strengthening areas of development
Provide leadership and oversight to Senior Superintendents, Superintendents, Layout Engineers, and any other field staff overseeing construction field operations
Provide leadership, direction, and guidance in project development, design, and construction; counsel, and coach project staff to develop necessary job skills
Responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously or large complex projects
Conduct performance appraisals and recommend promotions and corrective actions for the project team
Participate with project staffing allocation planning

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE + SPECIAL SKILLS *Required
Fifteen (15) to twenty (20) years’ commercial construction management experience*
Construction experience in multiple market sectors such as Base Building, Interior, Renovation, Healthcare, Education and / or Mixed Use*
Thorough knowledge of commercial project development*
Ability to read blue prints, shop drawings, and a familiarity with building codes*
Decision making, research and analytical problem solving skills*
Time management with the ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently*
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization*
MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook experience*
Computer software experience with CMIC, MS Project, Primavara, Deltek, and other programs required for this position
Certifications for First Aid, CPR and OSHA 30-hour
Bachelor’s degree, preferred

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is
