SUMMARY:

The EHS Manager identifies existing and predictable hazards on large project sites and takes corrective measures to eliminate risk from the project sites. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field, or equivalent safety experience 

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in occupational Environmental Health + Safety in construction 

  • Safety Trained Supervisor Certification, or equivalent 

  • Construction Health and Safety Technician Certification, or equivalent (CHST)

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations 

  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas to employees, trade partners and clients 

TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Field Audits, Inspections and Risk Identification 

  • Leads comprehensive EHS audits and field inspections on complex or high-risk projects 

  • Identifies systemic issues and ensures timely resolution and accurate documentation 

  • Conducts peer audits of other EHS Managers and shares findings with department leadership 

  • Maintains a strong field presence and models expected EHS leadership behaviors 

  • Safety Planning and High-Risk Work  

  • Reviews and approves Job Hazard Analyses, Pre-Task Plans, and high-risk work scopes 

  • Ensures control measures align with DAVIS standards and regulatory requirements 

  • Integrates EHS into preconstruction, logistics, and project planning discussions 

  • Leadership and Trade Partner Engagement 

  • Facilitates leadership-level engagement on safety performance and risk mitigation strategies 

  • Leads project EHS kickoff and trade partner preconstruction meetings 

  • Conducts intervention meetings, with assistance from leadership and trade partner leadership to address repeated or significant noncompliance 

  • Reinforces accountability and DAVIS safety culture across project teams 

  • Training and Education  

  • Designs and delivers advanced EHS education and specialized training courses 

  • Develops training content tailored to DAVIS operations and project-specific risks 

  • Represents DAVIS in external conferences, industry panels, and client-facing safety briefings 

  • Incident Investigation and Corrective Action Management 

  • Manages incident investigations and root cause analyses 

  • Ensures corrective actions are implemented, tracked, and communicated to stakeholders 

  • Supports legal defensibility through thorough documentation and follow-up 

  • Project & Program Assessments 

  • Oversees Monthly EHS Assessments and trend analysis across assigned projects or revenue groups 

  • Analyzes safety performance data to drive proactive interventions and planning 

  • Leads development and refinement of EHS performance metrics 

  • Escalates organizational risks and collaborates with leadership on improvements 

  • Systems, Documentation and Regulatory Interface 

  • Creates and manages EHS content within internal platforms 

  • Instructs project teams and EHS staff on effective use of EHS systems 

  • Leads OSHA inspections, insurance audits, and third-party evaluations 

  • Represents DAVIS procedures and safety management practices to external stakeholders 

  • Policy Development and Compliance  

  • Leads development and refinement of project and corporate EHS policies and procedures 

  • Applies expert-level knowledge of OSHA, DAVIS policy, and contract requirements 

  • Ensures compliance, risk mitigation, and legal defensibility across projects 

  • Leadership and Staffing  

  • Supervises EHS staff and provide day-to-day guidance and oversight 

  • Mentors EHS personnel and models professional EHS leadership 

  • Interviews and evaluates EHS candidates for technical and cultural alignment 

  • Supports professional development for team members 

  • Strategic Initiatives, Client Support and Environmental Programs 

  • Leads internal business plan initiatives, pilot programs, and tool development 

  • Collaborates cross-functionally to advance department strategy 

  • Supports client EHS relationship management, including environmental issues, injury claims, and loss control 

  • Coordinates environmental compliance and industrial hygiene efforts, including air and noise monitoring and exposure control implementation

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is

$115,000.00 - $140,000.00
