The Pursuit Specialist provides critical support for the project procurement process and pursuit of new business. Daily responsibilities include developing and submitting multidisciplinary and collaborative proposals to a wide range of private and public sector clients. Coordinates proposal response and team assignments; supports proposal development and writing; writes and edits proposal narratives; and serves as proposal liaison to all Market Sector groups. Must champion + maintain DAVIS’ brand standards across the board.

Essential Duties + Responsibilities

  • Perform responsibilities with excellence in service, integrity and building relationships as exemplified in DAVIS core values
  • Champion the DAVIS culture
  • Manage the development of multiple proposals; proposal response production; develop RFP / RFQ response layout, coordinate draft materials; create, manage and maintain proposal responsibility matrix and content outline; production (collect + compile all information) and final delivery
  • Provide strategic guidance and coaching throughout the proposal and presentation process; ability to understand the message trying to be conveyed by the project team and effectively organize and present the information such that the message is not lost
  • Write, edit and proof read a variety of comprehensive narrative and proposal materials (as well as non-proposal marketing materials and website content) per the DAVIS brand standards + style guide; translate technical verbiage into a clear vocabulary necessary; maintain continuity of writing style among different writers and throughout the material; advise on style guide updates
  • Understand RFP / RFQ requirements to ensure compliance
  • Stay current with DAVIS projects, potential projects, and staffing and understand DAVIS’ services, differentiators, experience, personnel information, and history
  • Lead presentation formatting and content development specific to each proposal + set of client touch points
  • Support and collaborate with Market Sectors / key DAVIS stakeholders to formulate and submit proposals, maximizing DAVIS’ overall marketing strategy and activity
  • Maintain proposal quality management; create templates, checklists and boilerplate documents to support the proposal development infrastructure and maintain proposal quality management
  • Maintain and update marketing  knowledge base consisting of project descriptions, employee resume + biographies, professional award + certification documents
  • Contribute to the teams broader marketing efforts + initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Experience + Special Skills

*Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, English or Marketing  related field*
  • At least five (5) years of previous; minimum of two (2) years of which should be specifically with proposal and presentation development related responsibilities; must have a demonstrated high level of experience and understanding of private + public sector proposal process*
  • Expert organizational and time management skills to coordinate projects and people, prioritize and track multiple projects simultaneously, and meet critical deadlines*
  • Expert skill level + experience using MS Office 2010, various graphics and presentation programs (i.e. Adobe CS6 / Cloud, Acrobat 9 Pro, Prezi)*
  • Strong technical writing, editing and proof-reading experience, Strong ability to write creatively and to appeal appropriately to each audience with each message*
  • Strong experience level with GSA proposal forms and other technical government proposal preparation*
  • Decision making, research and analytical problem solving skills*
  • Time management with the ability to organize, assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and to work independently*
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and interact effectively at all levels within the organization*
  • MS Office – Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook experience*
  • Association of  Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) and / or LEED accredited
  • Interest in sustainability and community service
  • Understanding of A / E / C industry, its dynamics and touchpoints

PHYSICAL JOB DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The employee is responsible to maintain fitness-for-duty while holding the above described position and should be able to perform the essential tasks of the position in a safe, appropriate and effective manner. Reaching above and below, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and bending.  The employee must occasionally lift / carry / move up to 25 pounds.  Manual dexterity to operate office equipment, file, and perform specialized skills.  Needs a high degree of concentration in a busy office environment. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  This position may require some travel for conferences, educational sessions, and other company events.

The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to higher noise levels and hazardous working conditions when working at job sites.  Safety precautions must be taken and resources will be provided.

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is

$80,000.00 - $105,000.00
