SUMMARY:

The Senior EHS Manager identifies existing and predictable hazards on the project sites and takes corrective measures to eliminate risk from the project sites. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health + Safety Sciences or related field, or equivalent safety experience 

  • At least seven (7) years of experience in occupational Environmental Health + Safety in construction 

  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification or equivalent 

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations 

  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas to employees, trade partners and clients 

  • Proven management and leadership experience and skills 

 

TECHNICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE:

  • Enterprise Field Oversight, Audits & Systemic Risk 

  • Leads safety oversight on large, complex, or high-risk projects 

  • Conducts audits, identifies systemic issues, and drives timely resolution 

  • Maintains strong field presence and models senior EHS leadership 

  • Provides crisis-management readiness and high-hazard oversight 

  • Strategic Safety Planning & High-Risk Coordination 

  • Leads EHS kickoffs and high-hazard preconstruction planning 

  • Integrates EHS into complex logistics, sequencing, and execution planning 

  • Sets expectations for risk management across projects and revenue groups 

  • Executive, Revenue Group & Client Engagement 

  • Advises revenue group leadership on EHS performance, risk exposure, and priorities 

  • Supports EHS-related client coordination, including OCIP participation and loss control 

  • Maintains collaborative relationships with operations, trade partners, and clients 

  • Advanced Education, Leadership Development & Industry Representation 

  • Develops and delivers senior-level EHS and leadership education 

  • Oversees curriculum development for high-risk topics and leadership sessions 

  • Represents DAVIS at industry meetings, conferences, and forums 

  • Presents program updates, performance metrics, and strategic insights externally 

  • Incident Management 

  • Manages serious incidents and event response 

  • Leads root cause analysis and ensures organizational learning 

  • Coordinates corrective actions and escalation across departments 

  • Program Oversight and Continuous Improvement 

  • Oversees Monthly Project EHS Assessments across multiple projects or revenue groups 

  • Analyzes organizational data to identify risks and performance gaps 

  • Initiates enterprise-wide improvements and proactive interventions 

  • Forecasts industry trends and regulatory changes to inform strategy 

  • Systems, Reporting and Auditing 

  • Creates and manages EHS content in internal systems 

  • Establishes reporting standards and trains staff on system use 

  • Conducts independent peer audits of EHS Managers to promote alignment and consistency 

  • Policy Development and Regulatory Strategy  

  • Develops, updates, and enforces corporate EHS policies 

  • Provides expert-level guidance on OSHA, environmental compliance, and industrial hygiene 

  • Advises leadership on compliance strategy and long-term risk positioning 

  • Supervision and Professional Development 

  • Assesses staffing needs across projects and markets 

  • Assigns EHS personnel based on risk, complexity, and development goals 

  • Supervises and mentors staff; oversees onboarding, reviews, and advancement 

  • Interviews and evaluates EHS candidates; supports hiring and promotion 

  • Maintains and promotes professional certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, BCSP) 

  • Enterprise Strategy 

  • Leads cross-functional initiatives and business plan execution 

  • Contributes to enterprise planning, including budgeting, staffing strategy, and software evaluation 

  • Coordinates with Legal, Risk Management, People Operations, and other departments on high-risk incidents, claims, enforcement, and reputational impacts 

  • Supports vendor management and evaluation of EHS tools and systems

The base salary (or hourly) range for this position is

$135,000.00 - $180,000.00
