DAVIS Breaks Ground Across the Mid-Atlantic on Several Projects In October
October was a groundbreaking month at DAVIS, literally!
Across the Mid-Atlantic, six notable projects celebrated the start of construction this month, setting the stage for new spaces supporting education, housing, community, worship, and transportation. Together they represent the exciting future of their regions and the momentum carrying DAVIS forward into 2027 and beyond.
October Groundbreakings
Johns Hopkins University - New Residence Hall + Dining Commons
At Johns Hopkins University, construction is underway on a new residence hall and dining facility that will expand the student experience on the university’s Homewood Campus in Baltimore, MD. The project will add more than 400 student rooms through a new building that replaces the Alumni Memorial Residence Hall alongside a new dining facility shaped by student feedback, creating a new hub for living, dining, and connecting on campus.
Corso Chevy Chase
A new community is beginning to take shape on the former National 4-H Conference Center site in Chevy Chase. Galerie Living’s new luxury senior living community will bring approximately 200 new housing units to the property and transform a prominent site for its next chapter.
Mercersburg Academy - Zern Hall
Mercersburg Academy marked the start of construction on its new Zern Hall Center for Science and Innovation a new academic building designed to support science education and exploration on campus. The project adds another chapter to DAVIS’ work in educational environments, with a facility centered on how students will learn, collaborate, and innovate.
Odenton MARC Station Parking Garage
In Odenton, MD, a new four-story, approximately 1,100-space parking garage will reshape commuter parking adjacent to the MARC station. By consolidating existing commuter parking into a smaller footprint, the project will add approximately 300 parking spaces while supporting one of the region’s important transit connections.
McPherson Square Library
In Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood, the renovation of McPherson Square Library will give new life to an important community resource. The project represents an investment in a neighborhood institution and will create an updated space to continue serving the surrounding community.
District Church - National Baptist Memorial Sanctuary
At National Baptist Memorial Church, work is beginning on a renovation of the historic sanctuary for the District Church's new home! The project will transform an existing place of worship for a new congregation while preserving its role as a place for people to gather and connect.
