Project Brief

The Loudoun County Crisis Receiving and Stabilization Center expands access to critical behavioral health services, providing individuals experiencing a mental health crisis with a safe, supportive environment for care and recovery.

The building features a steel superstructure with a clerestory design that maximizes natural light while maintaining patient privacy and security. Interior spaces include two behavioral health care suites, seven patient rooms designed with anti-ligature and enhanced security features, counseling and intake areas, a nurse call station, a seclusion room, administrative offices, and a small industrial kitchen.

Providing the Right Care in the Right Space

Located on a 3-4 acre campus dedicated to county support services, the project involved the construction of a one-story behavioral health facility designed to meet the unique needs of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. The scope included extensive site and infrastructure improvements, including a stormwater management system, cast-in-place concrete foundations, and retaining walls to support the new facility.

This transformative facility reflects a commitment to expanding access to mental health resources and creating a welcoming environment focused on safety, dignity, and healing.
