McPherson Square Library Renovations and Park Improvements

The renovation of McPherson Square Library will reinvigorate a 99-year-old community resource, creating a more accessible, functional, and energy-efficient space for the neighborhood. A new accessible entrance ramp and updated elevator will improve access, while redesigned interiors will better support the library’s collections and daily programming. Targeting LEED Gold certification, the renovation will also modernize building systems and restore the historic exterior, with additional improvements extending into the surrounding park and playground.

Beyond the building itself, the renovation represents a meaningful investment in a neighborhood that has faced significant challenges in recent years. As part of a broader, multi-phase effort to revitalize surrounding public spaces, the project will help reconnect residents with these community amenities while strengthening the library’s role as a safe, welcoming resource.
