JW Marriott Reston Station
Project Brief
Comstock's Reston Row District is a transit-oriented development, made up of office buildings, apartments, destination restaurants, retail shops and outdoor space for concerts and other community activities. Anchoring this megaproject, built entirely with DAVIS as the general contractor over four years, is the first JW Marriott in the state of Virginia - JW Marriott Reston Station, a massive 28-story hotel and condominium building. The massive structure includes 243 hotel rooms, 94 residences, fine dining venues and approximately 25,000 sq ft of event and meeting space! Officially opened in September 2025, it provides easy access to Metro’s Silver Line that connects directly to Dulles International Airport, Tysons Corner, and Washington, D.C.
Luxury Living, Luxury Materials
Building a brand staple as big as JW Marriott means sourcing materials of the highest quality—from Greek specialty lobby tile to a $2m rooftop maintenance unit from Spain. These materials required additional planning, including altered schedules due to longer than expected delivery times. Although they required an extra lift from our team, they were well worth what they added to the final product.
It Takes a Team (or Several)
For a project this massive, we got creative to take on all the responsibilities that presented themselves. Our strategy was to split resources between three mini-teams: hotel, condominium, and amenities. These teams, alongside architects and trade partners, met in bullpen sessions that allowed these separate teams to ultimately work together and complete one comprehensive project. This added level of coordination within our organization was necessary to support the megaproject, and we’re proud of all our teams for stepping up to the challenge.
