The Lab School of Washington Theater
Project Brief
The Lab School of Washington, a school for students with learning disabilities, commissioned DAVIS to convert their natatorium (indoor swimming pool) into a new 160-seat theater. The theater, which opened in October 2019, features custom fabrics, lighting and rigging systems, and even a catwalk, giving a professional theater experience to the performing students as well as the audience. The Lab School had a strict deadline to open before the fall semester got underway, and even though this building was constructed directly adjacent to another school on an occupied campus, the DAVIS team was efficient and met their schedule.
