Project Brief

Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB) has been an invaluable source of meals for people and families in the Greater Washington area. During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, CAFB distributed more than 28 million meals to northern Virginians. Food insecurity remains an issue today, and CAFB needed a new warehouse to accommodate their needs. They trusted DAVIS to build a space that is nearly four times larger than their original Lorton warehouse! With this new facility in place, CAFB can store 1.8 million pounds of dry food, and the new cooler can store 936,000 pounds of food, compared to the 80,000 pounds they could store in the old facility. The facility also includes 8,000-SF of office and meeting spaces, as well as a parking garage and loading bays for 10 tractor trailers. We are so thankful to have partnered with CAFB on this monumental project that will improve how members of our community receive meals when they are in need.
