One Washington Circle

Project Brief
Originally built in 1964, One Washington Circle Hotel was a cornerstone of DC’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood, known for its eclectic style and proximity to the nation’s most iconic landmarks. When AKA Hotel acquired the property in 2022, they chose DAVIS to transform the historic address into a modern, sophisticated home away-from-home. With four architectural packages covering 151 guestrooms, new amenities, public spaces, and a terrace, our team revitalized every corner of the hotel.
STYLE AND STRUCTURE
At the heart of the capital, leisure and business are in equal demand, so our team transformed the lobby into a stylish hub that caters to both. The interior boasts a new fitness center and conference center, while the former pool and outdoor spaces were converted into a full-service restaurant. Custom architectural millwork ceilings seamlessly connect the renovated lobby to the updated porte-cochere, creating a unified, elegant flow across the space. Beyond aesthetic updates, we made significant structural upgrades with below-grade concrete repairs and the demolition and reconstruction of exterior storefronts and interior partitions.
ELEVATED COMFORT
Inside the guestrooms, no detail was overlooked—luxurious new finishes, custom casework, sleek countertops, stylish furniture, modern lighting, and upgraded plumbing brought a whole new level of comfort. In addition, several ADA-accessible units were incorporated into the redesign, emphasizing AKA's mission of providing excellent hospitality for all guests.
